Research shows that one quality outweighs all others in positive mental health outcomes; the quality of the therapeutic relationship. 3 essential qualities define a healthy therapeutic relationship: an emotional bond of trust, caring and respect, and collaboration on the “work” or tasks during treatment. I am committed to these qualities and bring my own body, mind, and spirit into the space to create healthy co-regulation and an atmosphere of compassion throughout our sessions.

Healing from trauma
“Kintsugi” in Japanese translates to “golden joinery” and refers to the ancient art of repairing broken pottery by mending the breakage with laquer dusted with gold. It embraces the imperfection and repair of an object rather then something to disguise. Trauma therapy is similar-we learn to embrace & integrate rather then turn away from our pain & story.

Building Self-Esteem
Self-esteem shows up in a variety of ways including how we speak to ourselves, how we view our body, and how our perception of ourselves in the world aligns with our ideals. We live in a world that is constantly telling us to be more, to be better and to do more. By building self-compassion we can come to a greater acceptance towards our imperfections and humanness, thus increasing self-esteem.

Assertiveness
Sometimes saying no to others means we are saying yes to ourselves. Setting boundaries is a way for us to create a sense of safety & trust in ourselves. There are many creative ways to work with identifying our own boundaries and practice speaking our truth to others. We work in the realms of physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual to get curious about & become more deeply rooted in living in our own truths.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a way of paying attention in the present moment. Along with providing a myriad of benefits including reduced anxiety and depression, mindfulness allows us to step into an observer role. We can begin to realize we may feel certain things, but that does not mean we are those feelings. We come into deeper contact with the changing aspect of things. Mindfulness can provide us with a deeper peace and a sense of freedom
